The Learning Technologies Centre at the University of Manitoba is offering 2 workshops next week.  These workshops are free but registration is required.  

 

Planning technology use in your next course

Why do you want to add a technology component? What is the underlying basis in research? Does the nature of the content to be taught lend itself to the technology tools being considered? The criticality of matching technology, learner experience and resource access, content nature, and instructor skill, will be the focus of this workshop. At the conclusion, workshop participants will have an outline of tools best suited to attend to particular learning tasks in their own subject area.

Social Bookmarking

Browser based bookmarks have long been an important 'cataloguing' method for web sites. Wouldn't it be nice if you could save your bookmarks on the web and have them available from any computer and any browser. Now you can. And there's more. You can tag your web based bookmarks with searchable keywords. You and your class can share bookmarks and find websites tagged with the same keywords. Social bookmarking sites such as del.icio.us, and Furl allow you to do all this and much more.
