Re: Where are we?

That sounds good to me. -Mark

Hi again,

I've changed the time of the combined ELP meeting and C3 session on the ELP calendar -- it is now scheduled from 10 - 12:30.  I hope that we will have between an hour and an hour and a half for the C3 session.

I've also put 10:30 to 12:00 down on the calendar on November 25th as our planning session.  I'll try to reserve ILC 206 forboth the planning session and the actual session on Dec. 1st.

Please let me know if you have problems with any of this.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi!

25th is good for me too. No time preference!

Everything else sounds fine.

Hi again,

Based on the responses so far, I'm going to suggest that we plan to meet on Tuesday, 11/25, which will still give us a bit of time to prepare for the session on the 1st.  Anytime  that day is fine with me.

I also agree with Mark that having a little longer session on the 1st as a continuation of the ELP meeting is better than having two separate meetings.  I will mention this likelihood at the meeting tomorrow and indicate the more details will be available later.

Room 206 seems good to me as well.  Please let me know if you have a particular time preference for our meeting on the 25th.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Bill and everyone,

For the next group training,

Meeting Date: At this point all days 11/25~28 are good for me.

Session Time: I'm for the 10:00 to 12:30 on 12/1 option. It is a little long, but I'm sure people would prefer it to having another meeting.
We can strive to keep the training objectives explicit and manageable within the amount of time.
I'm not sure what we need to prioritize yet, but I'm sure we can put together a productive 60~70 minute session.

Room: ILC-206 seemed to work well as a training room during the spring retreat. Shall we use it again?

Everyone else, what do you think?

Mark

Hi everyone,

Since we won't be able to meet until less than a week before the planned training session, I agree with Mark that we should at least decide on the day and time for the session now and then finish the planning 11/25-28 sometime.

My original thought was that the ELP meeting often doesn't need the two hours allotted for it, and that we could combine the ELP meeting and C3 session within the the 10 - 12 meeting time on Dec. 1.  However, delays in personnel approvals will mean that we will probably be doing a lot of work in that area in the Dec. 1 meeting.    Depending on how much time we feel we need (and people can stand) for this C3 session, one idea would be to combine the two sessions, but in an expanded timeframe --  e.g. 9:30 to 12 or 10 to 12:30.  The other option would be to separate them completely and have the C3 session on Tues. 12/2 either in the morning or afternoon.

So,

What days times in the 11/25 - 28 period are good for you?

Which option(s) do you recommend for scheduling the training session?

Thanks!

Bill

Good point, Dave.

On second thought, I guess meeting during the break would work well for me too. I'll most likely be out of town 11/19-22, but the following week should be mostly possible 11/25~28.

Could we decide the date/time/place for the training by email exchanges? And then, at the meeting next Tuesday, could we just briefly announce that a training session will be held on Date? = Dec. 1 or Dec. 2?, Time? = 1:30~3pm? in Room? = reserve ILC-206? without going into the details except to say "the next step of C3 skills"?

Hi!

I was thinking we would plan the training session during the break, but if others would like to meet on Thu from 11 to 12, that's fine with me. (After this week, though, gets very busy for me.)

Thank you!

Best,
Dave

Hi,

I sent this message out 3 weeks ago and Mark is the only one to respond so far.  We will need to give another report on our doings at the ELP meeting next Tuesday, and I was hoping we could announce some details of the training session on Dec. 1st.  Are we ready for that?  Should we try to meet before next Tues?

Cheers,

Bill

It looks like we have a plan then --

1. Work on and complete the manuals.
2. Plan for a group training session on Dec. 1st
3. Confirm the degree and extent of needed imposition of standardized practice such as a Gmail only policy.
4. Determine our position on "changes in individual work practices and certain attitudes that are not yet widely understood or agreed upon." and how to implement that position.

Sounds like we need a meeting or five?  When would we like to meet next?

Thanks,

Bill

Hi C3ers,

Dec 1 best I think.

I think it would also be very useful to have the 'manuals' available before then to help inform the discussion.

At present, staff have had only a brief intro. to Firefox, Gmail, and GDocs, nothing yet on Delicious & tagging, the Reader as information centre, or blogs as course homepages, or using these tools as an integrated work environment to support social work.

And even regarding Gmail, I think we need to discuss moving over to Gmail exclusively within the ELP, peoples' concerns, and the support they feel they need. Then an ELP decision needs to made on the date C3 asks Kobayashi-san to start forwarding all teachers ICU mail to their Gmail accounts.

Rushing,

Owen.

Hi,

Should we plan to put a discussion like this on the agenda for Oct 28? It's the only chance we have left this term.  Can we be ready for it by then? An alternative is to plan for something on Dec 1, when we have two hours for the ELP meeting.  I think the latter would be my preference.

I will announce the work on the manuals. I'm also happy to encourage teachers to explore one or two tags as Mark suggested.  We can put directions on how to access that information in the minutes of the meeting.

Hi Bill & C3ers,

I have drafted up draft manuals for coordinators and teachers that I would like to offer for C3 discussion and revision, and then to make available for staff. Knowing that a 'manual' of some kind is coming for staff is useful information.

There is also the looming discussion the ELP needs to have on the realities of working with the C3 plan. The plan calls for changes in individual work practices and certain attitudes that are not yet widely understood or agreed upon.

Best,

Owen.
