Hello,
Referring to Owen's third question below,
Please look at the helpicu Google site and http://www.pageflakes.com/ICUELP/19273626 Both are possible versions of a central site for information exchange and archiving.
Bill
1) The 'big picture' for C3 - Does it evolve into a semi-distributed NTD, in which a lot of the work a C3er does, is done as part of his role in a curriculum (or other) group (like Dave in CS)? Or in other ways?
2) The 'big picture' for training an support - How? What? When? Who?
3) The ELP Teachers' Website - Joining the main pieces together & creating a single location for 'mission critical' (sorry!) services and information.

Also, after much tedious and frustrating work, I have compiled a fairly full set of ELP delicious tags in my Google Reader. I have uploaded it to the helpicu google account and it seems to be working well there. So, if you would like to effortlessly add all the the tags to your own Google Reader, please use the attached file. To do this, you need to save the file somewhere on your computer. Then in your Google Reader under settings choose import/export and browse to find the file. Click open when you find the file and then click upload. Once you have all these tags added to your Google Reader, you can select which ones to delete.
Let me know if you have any trouble with this. I have also modified the list of tags that we created as a googledoc. The tags that are listed in that document that aren't in my file for the Google Reader don't have any items in them yet:
iculpc
icucla
icuoar
icufm
elpresearch

I will keep working on these.

Hello,
It looks like we are on for a partial group meeting around lunch time on the 27th. Mark won't be able to be there and we haven't heard from Dave on this, so he may or may not be able to make it. Owen has suggested meeting over a bite to eat and that is fine with me. Any suggestions on a place?
The tags that are listed in that document that aren't in my file for the Google Reader don't have any items in them yet:
iculpc
icucla
icuoar
icufm
elpresearch
elpoffice
elprtrt
elpsea
elplrb
elpsc
I will keep working on these.

Re: Orientation meeting for spring
Hi everyone,
March is pretty open for me, but I have meetings all afternoon on the 5th and all day on the 14th. I'm also hoping to take a couple days off between the 14th and the 28th, but I don't know exactly when yet.

Good ideas, Owen. I agree with the need of having a meeting some time in March. This week, I am pressed for time to submit grades before leaving for Cambodia on Friday morning, so a meeting will be very difficult. After I return on 2/28, I'd be happy to have a meeting in March.3/4 or 3/5 in the afternoon would be good.Later in March is possible too. I plan to be around Mitaka most of the time. How's everyone's March schedules?Mark

Re: Orientation meeting for spring
Good ideas, Owen. I agree with the need of having a meeting some time in March.
This week, I am pressed for time to submit grades before leaving for Cambodia on Friday morning, so a meeting will be very difficult.
After I return on 2/28, I'd be happy to have a meeting in March.
3/4 or 3/5 in the afternoon would be good.
Later in March is possible too. I plan to be around Mitaka most of the time.
How's everyone's March schedules?

Folks,
This version is approaching the final version. It is a working copy of the original, so you will now have two 'Getting the Tools' documents.

Yep, that is all good with me.

How will we know who is expected or able to respond without some coordination? If we go with a straight "email Bill if you have problems", I can farm out the requests to one of us or one of our volunteers. If we do that, Owen won't need to do any further work on this and I can print it tomorrow morning.
Sorry, I know it was not clear. Step Four will need to be changed to explain how to send details by email & what details to send. I was thinking that email can go to helpicu@gmail (our 'corporate account') and people will have a proforma in the instructions to fill out in their email message. helpicu@gmail.com can be set up to automatically label, filter, and possibly redirect replies to the C3 person/people who will follow up on that info. This wont take to set up will save time later.

Hi,
I created this spreadsheet to populate with the Gmail, Delicious and
other data that we normally publish. I wasn't sure whether to make
this data public or not. I noticed that Owen has created a simpler
form, but one that may still be public. We need to decide on the
public/private question, but ultimately I think having the data in a
spreadsheet that can be sorted may be most helpful.
Let me know what you think.

other data that we normally publish. I wasn't sure whether to make
this data public or not. I noticed that Owen has created a simpler
form, but one that may still be public. We need to decide on the
public/private question, but ultimately I think having the data in a
spreadsheet that can be sorted may be most helpful.
Let me know what you think.

Re: ELP 2.0 identity data (Google Docs)
Hi All,
I just responded to Owen's comments in the document, but since Mark can't see it, here is the main comment:
So, as I understand it we will use simple click the link instructions. Provide a paper copy at the meeting (at least for those people who are at the meeting) and send an email version later. The final step will be to email me with Gmail and Delicious info and to email C3 for help.
This all seems fine except I'm not sure why we want emails asking for help to come to all of us. How will we know who is expected or able to respond without some coordination? If we go with a straight "email Bill if you have problems", I can farm out the requests to one of us or one of our volunteers. If we do that, Owen won't need to do any further work on this and I can print it tomorrow morning.
Given the time pressure I really think we should keep things as simple as possible.

Collecting details on two or more pages (in this case, teachers' usernames & help requests) that are part of a multi-task activity is a job ideally suited to the ELP Teachers' Homepage wiki. It may not be possible to ready that in the time left to us however.
We will have to have a solution that works though. I am a bit tight for time Sunday (TW papers & sundry ARW things), I might have a bit of time at the end of today. Tomorrow early & P1 is busy for me, P2 is clear though.

This is more useful than the current identity data collecting document.
To satisfy privacy concerns, I recommend:
- First names only (surnames can be added to in-house version later)
- Email, include username only. This will thwart spammers email bots e.g. gedoc27@gmail.com
The data can be harvested as a spreadsheet in the same way the current form works, BUT new!, spreadsheets can now be used as a form. To see what I mean, in the spreadsheet, click 'share", then work through the screens that follow "to fill out a form". I played with this yesterday, but did not have enough time to work up a solution - it could probably work, but I am not sure it would be the easiest solution in this particular case.
- Delicious username is OK, it is public anyway
