Fwd: Re Firefox

FYI,

In case you find yourself working with Mac users in Japanese, Suzaki-san has done some research for us.  Apparently it is possible to right click the mouse on a Mac (who knew?).  The mouse senses when only the right side is pushed.

Also, I have checked on room 206 where we will have our C3 sessions this Friday.  Firefox is available in English.  Unlike the MMR, people will need to log in to the machines in 206 using their kerebos passwords.  I think this is the same as the username and password for ICU email.

Dear Bill,

Please find below some ways to operate the Japanese Firefox on Mac.

To create new tab
1) Click "File" on top bar and select "new tab" or
2) Double click on tab bar or
3) Right click on tab bar

To set a tab group as default HP
1) Click "Firefox" on top menu bar and select "Environment" then click "Use the current tab groups" under "General'.

The Help page on tab/browse can be obtained from the pull down menu "Help" on  the top menu bar (not from URL)
1) Click "Help" on top menu bar to open "Firefox Help" and select "Tab Browse" to obtain the above instructions.

Regards,

The schedule for the afternoon is to have three 50-minute time slots between 1:30 and 4:30 with 10 minute breaks between them. There will be 3 sessions per time slot.  C3 (i.e. Bill, Mark and Owen) could offer three separate sessions and we could offer them twice in different time slots to allow as many people as possible to attend and still go to non-C3 sessions.  I like the latter idea myself.

I think the general idea is to have the C3 presentations focus on helping people become more familiar and comfortable using the new tools -- Gdocs, Gmail, Firefox, Delicious, etc.  I would be comfortable doing a session on the basics of Firefox, how to set up tabs, etc. plus using iGoogle to create a personal homepage.  Owen and Ged, would you like to meet early next week to coordinate this together?  Monday 4th might work...
